LOCAL kart race driver, Sebastian Tolson, took out the City of Sydney Titles for Clubman Light at Oran Park recently.

The Alstonville teenager made the long trip to Sydney in the hope of gaining valuable racing experience on the Oran Park track, unique as the only kart track in Australia that is also part of the circuit used in the V8 Supercar series.

A regular driver at Lismore Kart Club, Sebastian took the chequered flag in four of the five races, including the final.

Due to gale force winds and rain that caused havoc though out Sydney, the field was smaller than former years, but track conditions were tough, with strong head winds and a tough band of Sydney competitors.

"Winning on this track was one of my goals. I'm a big V8 Supercar fan, so this was pretty special to me," Sebastian said.

"I missed out on racing the NSW State Championships due to exams this year, so this is a bit of a consolation prize."

Sebastian has had a very busy and successful year of racing, achieving 19 podium finishes out 24 race meets and with still two solid months of racing to go, including a Northern Zone round and two Interclub Challenge rounds, he is leading the series in the Clubman Light division.
