Lismore man is top tradesman

By SAMANTHA TURNBULL sam.turnbull@northernstar.com.au PHIL MURRAY has been one of the busiest men in Lismore since last month's freak hail storm, but his hard work has paid off.

The co-owner of As Nu Windows in Richmond Hill has been named The Northern Star's 2007 Tradesperson of the Year. Members of the public voted for their favourite tradesperson last week by calling The Star and As Nu Windows received almost double the number of votes of the runner-up.

"I've been flat chat since the storms, working seven days a week on my own," he said.

"So this is a great surprise. It shows the work I do is appreciated by my customers."

Phil and his wife Karleen set up their business three years ago.

It's Karleen's 40th birthday today, so the pair will have extra reason to celebrate.

They said the key to their success was 'offering city prices in country areas'.

"We'd also like to thank The Northern Star classifieds," Phil said.

"It's the only place we advertise and business is booming." As Nu Windows does repairs and maintenance of glass doors, windows, fly screens, security screens and security doors across the Northern Rivers.
