Lismore kids reap $3M support package

By Zoe Satherley

Frances Trimboli is smiling ? it's not every day you have $3 million to give away.

The YWCA's Northern Rivers regional manager said they were now able to start the process of rolling out money to local organisations since their Lismore Communities for Children Project had received the green light from the Federal Government.

The aim of the four-year project is to help support the healthy development of children in Lismore.

Guidelines on how the money should be spent are now completed and approved.

"They reflect what community members have told us is needed to support local families with young children," Frances said.

Organisations that feel they have programs which match the plan, are invited to put in expressions of interest to seek funding.

Info packs are available by calling the YWCA on 6625 6600. An information session on the project is being held at 6pm this Wednesday, at the YWCA rooms, above the Rous Road shopping centre in Goonellabah.
