Lennox house sells for $1.75 million

NEIL Campbell and Helen Hills said goodbye to the home that had been in their family for the past 82 years with a tear in their eye and $1.75 million in their pocket.

The siblings sold the property after their mother, Jean Campbell, died in September. A local family purchased the 52 Ballina Street, property in Lennox Head last night at the L J Hooker auction in Ballina and plan to commercially re-develop.

The site has three street frontages and an area of 923.2sqm.

"I've been living at the Lennox House with my parents for the past 20 years," Helen said. "Our grandfather bought the land originally and sold it to dad for 50 pounds.

"It was built as a holiday house but when mum and dad retired they moved in permanently," she said. Helen said she would move to Urunga, south of Coffs Harbour. "It's like Lennox was in the late 70s," she said.
