Lennox duo fill places
WHILE fellow New South Welshman Ben Dunn, from Old Bar, was stamping himself as Australia's undisputed top junior surfer at the weekend, two Lennox Head-based competitors finished second and third in the Billabong Pro-Teen Series at Bells Beach, Victoria.
Adam Melling was runner-up, with James Wood third and Lake Munmorah's Michael Spencer fourth in the final competition of the series.
In the final, Dunn was simply untouchable, amassing a point total of 19.50 out of a possible 20.
Stroking into a classic two-metre Bells wall only seconds into the 30-minute final, Dunn displayed the form that has seen him sit atop the ASP junior ratings for the majority of the 2005 competitive junior year, smashing five powerful re-entries for a 9.50 score.
Stunned onlookers were then treated to an amazing surfing display, as Dunn clinically demolished the Bells Beach line-up on his second ride, scoring the second perfect 10-point ride of the day and putting an unreachable distance between himself and his fellow opponents.
The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships will be held at Narrabeen in January.
