Legends on the right track

FEEL like tackling a day at the races?

The Northern Rivers-Gold Coast branch of Men in League hope you do ... this Saturday at the Ballina Jockey Club meeting.

Legends of the game ? including Noel Kelly, John Peard, Elwyn Walters, Barry Muir, Graham Eadie and John Cartwright ? are already 'starters' for a fundraising effort at the seven-event TAB meeting.

The nominated charity for the day is Our Kids, a self-funded organisation working under the umbrella of the Northern Rivers Area Health Service from Tweed to Grafton.

The aim is to improve the health services available to children of the Northern Rivers.

A Men of League marquee for members and race sponsors will be set up near the saddling enclosure.

To build the impetus into a two-day celebration, an informal social function will be held at the Ballina Seagulls Rugby League Club tomorrow night.

On the race day at Ballina on Saturday, the gates will open at 11am with the first local race scheduled for 1.22pm.
