Lauren flying Ocean Shores flag at Indy

INDY drivers wear fire-resistant balaclavas and full body suits, but Grid Girls don't wear much at all. Ocean Shores model Lauren Newman will be joining 40 others on the grid as she vies for the title of Miss Indy 2007 and over $40,000 worth of prizes. Lauren works as a personal trainer at Spirit health club in Byron Bay and won her spot in the final 40 after winning two modelling contests at Drink night club on the Gold Coast. It was the first time the 22-year-old had entered the competition after six years of modelling. "It's something I've always wanted to try, so this year I thought I'd just go for it," she said. Lauren said her family, friends, and very understanding boyfriend, have been supportive of her goal to become the next Miss Indy.

To do so Lauren will have to endure a gruelling week of wining, dining, and smiling with the other 39 finalists. "I just plan to be myself and see how it goes," she said.
