JUDY Overgaard, of Geneva (near Kyogle), was very pleased when her three little girls did her proud at yesterday's Kyogle PA&H Society Eden Country Store Prime Vealer Competition.
Judy and Bob Overgaard took their pen of Blue/E Angus shorthorn-cross calves to be judged and auctioned.
The Overgaards won $1500, taking out the Championship Prime Vealers and first in their class.
The calves were sold to the Northern Rivers Meat Company for $2.74 per kilogram, the highest price at auction.
The competition was judged by livestock co-ordinator for Ramsey Meats in Grafton, Paul Allen.
"The calves were in very good condition for this time of year," he said.
Event co-ordinator Les O'Reilly said the competition attracted 90 calves, mainly from the Kyogle area, with a total of $4000 in prize money.
Today at the Kyogle Show there's poultry and championship dog shows from 9am, the grand parade at 2pm, a show'n'shine from 2pm, and a demolition derby from 7.30pm.
