Joint winners after play-off

By PETER JAEGER

THE Richmond River Amateur Championship was decided in a thrilling finish, with a three-way play-off at the Lismore Workers Golf Club on Saturday.

Michael Brown, Matt Melrose and Chris Geraghty finished tied on 36-hole totals of 144 (four over par).

The play-off could not separate Gold Coast visitors Melrose and Geraghty, who were declared joint winners.

Lismore's Bob McClelland won the nett open from Matt Buckley (Lismore) and Bob Carlson (Lismore).

Matthew Flynn (Lismore) defeated clubmate Ben Dakin to be junior champion.

Ray Booker played great golf to be senior champion.

Lismore course superintendent Chris Haselden won the 36-hole nett from Mario Ivan (Lismore).

The course was in superb condition and was thoroughly enjoyed by the good fields, made up of local golfers and visitors from Sydney to Brisbane.
