High standard tipped for FNCOpen table tennis

EIGHTY-FIVE players will converge on Lismore this weekend for the first event on the Queensland club table tennis calendar.

The annual Far North Coast Open will be held at the Goonellabah Workers Sports Club today and tomorrow.

With the likes of Australian-ranked George Tang and Cabarita's Townsend brothers in action, the standard is sure to be high.

Up from 70 entries last year and with players ranging from Brisbane to Sydney entered, the tournament is going from strength to strength and is well liked on the circuit.

Junior events will start proceedings this morning, while the premier event, the open, will start at 4pm.

The open final is expected to start just after 5pm.
