He's living his dream

FORMER Ballina junior Dean Larsson gets to live a dream this week ? teeing it up with the game's best in the Byron Nelson Classic, a USPGA Tour event .

Dean gets a start through winning the Texas PGA event last year.

His caddie this week will be his good mate, Ballina member Justin Saxby, who flew over last week to acclimatise and no doubt will have Dean quite relaxed.

Dean, Sax and Scott Hayter formed a strong Ballina High team a few years ago representing Australia in the World Schools Championships in Scotland.

Dean gained a scholarship to Houston as a result of that event and has been in the US ever since.

He is a great guy and this is an awesome opportunity ? up against the likes of Singh, Woods, Els and Mickelson.

Striving to qualify

LISMORE'S Kane Webber and Rhein Gibson will tee it up this week in US Open qualifiers.

Kane is in Arizona these days and has turned pro.

He has been playing the Gateway Tour for the past year after finishing a stellar college career at Colorado.

Rhein has just finished his first year at Oklahoma, where as a freshman he won selection in the conference team.

His team is ranked No1 nationally in the NAIA section. The nationals will be held later this month.

Rhein intends returning home for a few months after the nationals, while the US has its summer break.

Good luck to both!
