Glee back to best

GLEE shook off their less-than-impressive display last week to annihilate Capri 7-1 in JH Williams Premier League women's hockey yesterday.

Glee led 2-1 at half-time.

With Cassie Douglas and Stephanie Purdie back on deck, the team went from strength to strength as the game wore on.

Purdie (11th minute) opened the scoring for Glee then Douglas added another goal a minute later.

Capri hit back through Marnie Hudson (22nd minute).

Just when Capri appeared to be getting on top, the Glee defence stood up with goalkeeper Felicity Kendall having a huge game along with Sally Baldry, Renee Dunstan and Stacy Savins.

Glee exerted their dominance in the second half with goals to Purdy (43rd, 45th minutes) and Ellie Van der Burg (48th, 65th, 66th).

At Murwillumbah, Waratah Falcons continued their devastating form, overwhelming East Lismore 6-1 after leading 2-1 at half-time.

With most of the Falcons recovering from the night before, Easts stayed competitive with Leah Toovey, goalkeeper Donna Barker and Nicole Knox holding their own.

Jessica Harvey (10th minute) opened the score for Falcons and Amy Paron (25th minute) extended the lead before Jo Mackney (21st minute) clawed Easts back into the game.

However, the Falcons asserted themselves in the second half with four goals.

In the other game at Murwillumbah, Redbacks defeated Northern Star 3-0.

Other games were Kingscliff v Mudgeeraba and United v Labrador.
