Garage Sale of the Century in Brunswick

By HELEN JACK

IF YOU slept in this morning and missed the start of the Brunswick Heads Old and Gold Second-hand Saturday, don't worry. There's still plenty happening at Brunswick all day today.

An impressive 47 houses are involved in the All Town Garage Sale, which started at 8am today.

Participating houses are all clearly identifiable with bunting and have lots of pre-loved goodies up for grabs. If you head over for a bargain, don't forget the Memorial Hall, a treasure trove of second-hand books, bric-a-brac, clothes and old wares.

After that, check out the other second-hand stores and pick up a bite to eat at either the CWA Devonshire tea stall in Park Street, the Rescue Squad BBQ at the VRA shed, the Brunswick Supermarket sausage sizzle in Central Tweed Street, Brunswick Health Foods, Bernardi's Gelato in Fingal Street, or any of Brunswick Heads' al fresco cafes and takeaway spots.

And, for history buffs, local historian Frank Mills will talk about Brunswick's fascinating past during an historical walking tour of the town and foreshore. It leaves from the Memorial Hall at 2pm.

"Whatever you chose, your efforts will help the environment and contribute to a meaningful community event," organiser Kim Rosen said.
