FNC softballers return triumphant

FAR North Coast proved its softball worth at the recent Northern Country Division Under-14 Championship in Kempsey.

The locals defeated Macleay Valley 6-4 in an exciting final.

Solid fielding and great pitching by Norton 'NJ' Bolt proved the difference at the end of a long and tiring day for the team.

Earlier in the titles, Far North Coast fielded its younger side, which accounted for Coffs Harbour 11-9.

Game two ended in a 4-all draw with Tweed, on the back of the pitcher-catcher combination of Mitchell Dowse, Bolt and Mitchell Watt.

In game three, they were convincingly beaten by eventual finals opponents Macleay Valley, but a strong 9-3 win over Tweed Heads ensured that Far North Coast qualified for the final.
