Flynn overpowers Whitty to win Easter Classic
BRISBANE's Pat Flynn proved too strong for Ballina's Nathan Whitty in yesterday's open final of the Lismore Easter Tennis Classic.
Flynn, who spent several years on the professional tour and three years at the Australian Institute of Sport, won the final 6-1 6-1.
The Lismore combination of David Robertson and Jeff Hurst reached the final of the men's division three doubles.
However, one of the real success stories of the tournament ? the introduction of a parents/children doubles division ? provided the opportunity for Lismore's Wayne Devlin and his son Bruce to win the final over Brisbane's David and Matt Smith 6-2.
The new division created plenty of interest and is almost certain to be included again in 2006, according to tournament director Ken Wray.
