First 100 jump in name of charity
By RACHEL SCOLLAY
BOB BARNES is looking for 100 people to throw themselves into the drink en masse on Sunday, September 18.
But don't panic, as the water will be a toasty 26 degrees.
At the long-awaited opening of the new Lismore Memorial Baths, the jumpers will be the first to take the plunge after the official opening by Lismore mayor Merv King.
The price of immortality? A mere $100. And if getting wet on a Sunday in September does not appeal, you can always nominate someone to jump on your behalf.
Mr Barnes said he would be jumping with his five-yearold grand-daughter.
The $10,000 raised by the first jumpers will be split between Lismore Challenge and and the Lismore Amateur Swimming Club.
People wanting to take part should call 6624 2233. The grand opening features a jazz band and free swimming. Jumpers need to assemble by 11am, ready to jump at 12.15. Their signatures will feature on a framed T-shirt at the baths entrance.
