Fired-up Redbirds ready for Workers

FOLLOWING 18 competition rounds over the past 26 weeks, Workers and Easts will battle for the title of Rex Airlines Far North Coast Baseball Major League champions in the three-game grand final series starting tonight.

The series winner will earn the right to meet the best Gold Coast team in the Interleague final next weekend.

Workers have the advantage of playing their third grand final in three years, but may find themselves hampered by a three-week lay-off.

They had the final round bye then a week off as second-placed Easts overcame third-placed Brothers in the preliminary final series.

Redbirds are still floating on the high of their thrilling three-game tussle with Brothers.

The Brethren forced their opponents to reach deep in the order to take the win.

To their credit, however, the young team handled everything thrown at them by one of the most dangerous and experienced sides in the competition.

Easts have had many years where inconsistent fielding and an inability to cope under pressure was their downfall.

Last weekend removed that monkey from their back and has set them up for the never ending assault that Workers have thrown at their opposition all year.

Game time is 6.30pm at Albert Park, Lismore. The facility is a fully catered, licensed premises with covered grandstands.
