Evans Head?s Ruben bows out in round two

EVANS Head-based surfer Ruben Roxburgh hangs his toes over the nose on a small, clean wave at Cooolum yesterday, during the second round of heats at the Golden Breed Australian Longboard Championships.

Roxburgh finished third and was eliminated from the contest.

Meanwhile, Noosa's Josh Constable began his campaign to win three consecutive Golden Breed national open longboard titles in the best possible way by scoring the day's highest scoring heat win.

He showed impeccable patience, picking off the cleanest and best waves, catching only four waves in his heat, while his competitors caught seven to 10 waves.

The difference was, Constable's ride were all well chosen and he notched up solid scores on all and his final score for his top two scoring rides was the days highest at 15.75.
