Evans Head home one in a million?

By SAMANTHA TURNBULL

DAVID MASON thinks he might have a record-breaker on his hands.

The real estate agent from Evans Head First National is about to list an Ocean Drive property on the market that he believes could sell for more than $1 million.

If he's correct, the sale will be a record for the town. "The record for a residential property in Evans Head at the moment is between $800,000 and $900,000," he said.

"But this could crack the $1 million mark."

He said the house was so special because of its sweeping ocean views to Ballina and of the Evans River.

"It's a rare thing to have ocean views like that as well as views of the river," Mr Mason said. "The views are uninterrupted."

The four-bedroom home was built in 1992 on a vacant block. This will be the first time it has been put on the market since being built.

Only one other property on that part of the street has been sold since 2000.

Mr Mason said he expected strong interest from potential buyers looking to move from the Gold Coast.

"South-east Queenslanders are about 25 per cent of our market and it's growing," he said.

"That figure has risen dramatically in the last three years.

"We're also getting a lot of interest from Brisbane and Sydney."
