Don't miss Bangalow and all that jazz

By Nerida Blok

GABRIELLE O'SHANNESSEY is offering you the chance to hear some of Australia's best jazz musicians.

But you need to be at the Bangalow A&I Hall today, between 11am and midnight.

That is where you will find the likes of the John Hoffman Quartet, the Leigh Carriage Trio, described as Melbourne's longest-lasting jazz group, the inspiring Bob Sedergreen, Ted Vining, Thierry Fossemalle, James Sherlock, Kristin Berardi, Greg Sheehan, Dave Ades, Elliott Dalgleish, Eric Ajaye, Chris Thwaite and Michael Azzopardi.

These and many more artists will fill the hall and village with the sounds of jazz, funk, Latin, hip-hop and Brazilian music.

In planning the third annual jazz festival, presented by the Northern Rivers Conservatorium, Ms O'Shannessey said she wanted 'players who have that something special'.

"I'm committed to cutting edge, improvised music ? the exciting stuff," Ms O'Shannessey said. "And we've got the greatest players here in Australia."

Tickets are $55/40 at the door.
