Dive in, learn to teach swimming

NSW Sport and Recreation is offering North Coast residents another opportunity to gain their Austswim teacher certificate.

The two-day program to be awarded an Austswim certificate will be held at the Ballina Fair Swim and Gym on the weekend of June 4-5, running from 8.30am-5pm each day.

North Coast Cluster co-ordinator, Lyn Larsen, said the Austswim teacher certificate was a nationally recognised accreditation.

"The course gives participants the skills they need to teach swimming and water safety to people aged four and above," Ms Larsen said.

Participants must be 16 years or older, and will need a current resuscitation award to gain their Austswim teacher certificate.

An optional resuscitation course will be held following Saturday's Austswim session, from 6-9pm.

Registration for the Austswim course is $275, plus $60 for participants requiring the optional resuscitation course.

For bookings or further information contact NSW Sport and Recreation on (02) 6687 7168.
