District locals clean up prizes

DESPITE big seas and cold nights, organisers of or the 12th annual Evans Head Fishing Classic said the week was the best yet.

Classic committee spokesman Brian O'Farrell said new ground had been broken with the largest array of prizes yet, and a strong push for catch-and-release.

Big seas closed the bar for four days of the six day event, but perfect fishing at the start of the Classic and a host of alternative events within the main event provided plenty of entertainment for all.

As well, $4500 was raised for cancer research, Our Kids and the Evans Head Pre-School.
