Daleys win successive Lismore premierships

DALEYS took back-to-back Lismore and District Netball Association premier division major premierships in a rain-interrupted grand final on Saturday.

Spearheaded by centre Hayley McAnelly, who was named best and fairest, Daleys were too good for a young Breakaways line-up, winning 36-23.

Daleys won every quarter, leading 16-9 at half-time, and never really looked troubled.

The defending champions' defence was excellent, with Lauren Youngberry and the experienced Lisa Brown proving more than a handful for the Breakaways attack. Breakaways' best were goal attack Marnie Sironen and defender Rene Lowbridge.

Other grand final results: Senior 1A, East Lismore 3 40 d Pure Blonde Rats 33; Senior 1B, Sneaky Rats 39 d Rous Relics 23; Division 2, CW Rebels 32 d Ratatatts 25; Division 3, Rous Rejects 25 d Woodlawn Herrons 21; Division 4, Gold Stars 35 d Workers Rose 28; Division 5, CW Eagles 38 d Summerlanders Strikers 23; Division 6, Ra Ra Rats 37 d Woodlawn Sea Eagles 17; Division 7, Daleys Gossips 21 d Rous Ramjets 14; Division 8, Workers Aqua 25 d Rous Renegades 19.
