Curtis the kayak dominator

LISMORE'S Tony Curtis dominated the H2O Sports Lismore Kayak Marathon on the Wilsons River yesterday.

Curtis, who has competed in a number of national marathon races, flew home to win the race by more than five minutes from his brother Glenn.

The 25km course covered three laps around Lismore Island and up to the Ballina Street bridge.

More than 50 boats in different categories converged on the Magellan Street start line despite the bleak conditions.

A small crowd of dedicated family and friends created a relaxed atmosphere as the paddlers scooted past.
