Costa waits for rail report

STATE Transport Minister Michael Costa will, like the rest of us, have to wait until next week to see an independent report on the Northern Rivers train line. Mr Costa had wanted a copy of the PriceWaterhouse Coopers report tabled in the NSW Legislative Council this week, but a motion to have Nationals MLC Melinda Pavey's copy of the report tabled was voted down by Coalition and independent MPs. Ms Pavey yesterday said they voted against the motion because she did not have a copy of it ? but that was only part of the reason. Ms Pavey said she was misquoted in the Hansard record saying she had a copy of the report, which was still being finished ahead of next week's release. What she had told Mr Costa was she had the same summary of the reports findings he had and which The Northern Star has reported on this week. The other reason they voted down the motion, she conceded, was to show the government that it could not order them around.
