Cobra strikes record

BLACK COBRA returned to his brilliant best for connections in a record-breaking win at the Lismore greyhounds on Tuesday night.

Black Cobra, owned by Ron Atchison, was tranferred to the Denise Robinson kennels at Dyraaba just four weeks ago following a string of disappointing efforts in Victoria.

The transformation in such a short space of time has been amazing as Black Cobra ($2.70) demolished a handy line-up and set a new time standard for the 520m journey recording a slashing 29.86s.

That time easily eclipsed the old record of 29.92s, which was established by Token Jet last September.

Abbeleix ($13.10) took second money 11 lengths away with Leica Picture the $2.20 favourite another 11⁄2 lengths away third.

An ambitious campaign has now been set for Black Cobra as he will contest the Country Challenge at Temora next week and then a tilt at the $120,000-to-the-winner Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park is on the agenda.
