Chook show?s grand champ is something to crow about

By LEONIE BRANN

THE cocks won't be the only proud males strutting their stuff at the Lismore Poultry Club's annual show this weekend.

Poultry fanciers and old rivals Doug Hogan and Ian Campbell are just two exhibitors preened to win their share of the $6000 in prizes and trophies at the 104th poultry show at the Lismore Showground today and tomorrow.

Mr Hogan, licensee of the Station Hotel in South Lismore, and Mr Campbell, from Howards Grass, say there will be friendly competition in the different classes, but the competition for Grand Champion Bird of the Show is cutthroat.

About 1200 poultry entries from clubs in NSW and Queensland will be competing in the different categories and classes. There is also the waterfowl category for duck breeders.

Chook lovers are invited to scratch around the show, and entry is free.
