Chefs in Herb Fest Cook-off

EVER fancied yourself as an Iron Chef?

Well, now is your chance to prove it, says Anita Mansfield, co-ordinator of the Northern Rivers Greenridge Health and Herb Festival, which is holding a recipe competition.

There are two categories, amateur and professional, so anyone can enter.

The winner in each will receive a $200 voucher for either Lismore's Peppertree Kitchen or The Kitchen Shelf.

"Amateurs can choose their own themed herb, but you have to be able to cook the meal on a stovetop," Anita says.

The themed ingredient for the professional category is finger limes.

The region's chefs are required to use the native limes in a seafood dish.

The best three from each category will be cooked in front of a live audience during the festival.

Entries close on August 5.
