Champions to pool their talents

By STEVE SPINKS

WITH $2000 prizemoney up for grabs the North Coast EightBall Pool Challenge is sure to be hotly contested this weekend at the Goonellabah RSL Sports Club.

Heading the list of accom- plished players attending the two-day event is former two-time Australian champion Peter Watt from Banora Point.

Watt has won the North Coast Eight-Ball on two previous occasions and must be considered one of the favourites.

Joining him will be Queenslanders John Wheeler and Danny Higgins.

Wheeler and Higgins are former Queensland Eight-Ball champions so they will take some beating.

Best hope for the locals, is former Tasmanian champion Damien Smith.

Smith, now living in Byron Bay, has recently been selected in the NSW team which will play at the Australian National Eight-Ball Titles on the Gold Coast early next month.

Competition starts at 10am tomorrow and Sunday.
