Casino truck driver dies in farm accident

By Jamie Brown

A 38-YEAR-OLD Casino man died instantly yesterday when the rigid truck he was driving rolled down a quiet hillside on a farm at Ghinni Ghi, west of%Kyogle.

According to police, the man had been spreading fertiliser from a purpose-built truck on the steep, grassy slope, when it rolled about 11.30am.

The driver was flung about inside his truck, ending up partway out of the crushed cab, halfway down the grassy hill.

Police said the man was declared dead at the scene.

The location, on private property along Iron Pot Creek Road, 12km west of Ettrick, proved troublesome for police at first, with poor radio and phone reception hampering communications.

Police say WorkCover authorities have been notified.
