Casino, Lismore advance in SCG Cup

By Steve Spinks

CASINO and Lismore have progressed to the second round of the SCG Country Cricket Cup.

Casino knocked over Ballina in a thriller at Fripp Oval, Ballina, while Lismore eased past Lower Clarence at Yamba.

Casino now faces Tweed at Casino this Sunday, while Lismore will take on Grafton at Oakes Oval, Lismore.

But the weekend's action didn't stop there.

In the Far North Coast LJ Hooker League, Alstonville and Murwillumbah played out a rare first- innings tie.

Both sides recorded modest totals of 129.

Meanwhile, Lennox Head, Southern Districts and Tintenbar-East Ballina moved to the top of the table after solid wins.

And it was a weekend for hat-tricks in junior cricket.

Jackson Clarke took 3-12 off three overs against Byron Bay in an Under-16 match, including three wickets in three balls.

And Marist Brothers Under-12 player Ashley Simes took a double hat-trick four wickets in four balls against Eastern Districts.
