Casino Chambers sold for medi spa

By NERIDA BLOK

RICHMOND Valley Council has sold Casino's former council chambers buildings to an investment company intending to establish a medi spa.

According to a statement from mayor Charlie Cox, contracts have been exchanged between the council and an investment company for the Walker Street sale.

The council is refusing to disclose the sale price until settlement is finalised.

The purchaser is proposing to establish a day surgery with cosmetic procedures by June this year.

An angry Casino Art Centre president, Peter Gallo, who was pushing for the historic buildings to be used as a cultural centre, said: "The sale has not been as transparent as it should have been. It includes public toilets and the Red Cross buildings."
