Byron surfer runner-up

BYRON Bay surfer Nick Colby, pictured, was a stand-out all week at the Rip Curl GromSearch at Jan Juc Beach, Victoria and in the finals yesterday he finished a close and slightly unlucky second in the 16 and Under boys division. The powerful natural-foot surfer will be keen to go one step further at the next Rip Curl GromSearch which runs on the October long weekend in Newcastle. GromSearch is a national series attracting the best young surfers in Australia and yesterday's event was the first in a six-contest series which ends early next year.
