Boxers on the rise

TALENTED boxers from Ballina and Lismore fought in Queensland last weekend with impressive results.

Billy Robinson (Maloney's Glove Club, Lismore) won the 46kg final at the Queensland Novice Titles at Southport.

He proved perseverance pays off, taking the title on his third attempt from Liam Hutchinson (Queensland).

Emmet Brown (Ballina RSL Youth Club) won his fight at Nerang in an open tournament.

Emmet even impressed the biased Queensland crowd as he defeated Tye Lynch (Albert Shire) in a unanimous points decision.

Emmet backed up to win after a victory in Coffs Harbour the previous weekend.

Far North Coast Boxing continues to strengthen and will culminate in the FNC titles at Ballina on August 13.

This weekend local boxers will compete at Condong in a tournament run by Murwill-umbah Boxing Club.
