Bomber robs Byron bay bank



A MAN claiming to have a bomb robbed the ANZ bank in Byron Bay yesterday.

He walked into the Jonson Street branch about 4pm and handed a teller a note. A witness told The Northern Star the man claimed to have a bomb in his bag and demanded $500.

The man was handed some money then ran out. He was last seen heading south in Jonson Street.

The bank was immediately closed and forensic police brought in to begin an investigation.

The robber is described as 183cm tall, 35- 40 years old, with a medium build, an olive complexion and brown hair.

He was wearing a khaki short-sleeve shirt, navy pants, black hat and oversized sunnies.
