Ballina?s Bullen head of River

Ballina's Neil Bullen got more than some chocolate eggs over the long weekend as he won the Richmond River Amateur Championship at the Lismore Workers Golf Club.

Bullen started with a great 68 but then he limped home with a 73 and a 76, two strokes ahead of of fast-finishing Lismore junior Scott Amor (76, 70, 73).

Murwillumbah's Keith Dean ran third in the open event with rounds of 72, 74 and 74.

Amor had a weekend to remember, also winning the Les Mancell Memorial Junior Championship.

Andrew Savins finished second, three strokes back after a rounds of 73, 72 and 78.

Lismore junior Craig Hurley excelled to win the 54 hole nett with 63, 66 and 69.

Neville Graham was runner-up with Thomas Vantaggiato a close third.

The senior championship went to Trevor Pryor with gross rounds of 69 and 77.

The B-grade 54-hole gross went to Steve McCombe and the nett to Michael Ball.

Claude Gardiner won the 54-hole C-grade gross and Scott Quinn the nett.
