Alstonville pair on top

ALSTONVILLE'S Rohan Napoli and Issac Hair have won selection the NSW Under 14 Water Polo squad.

The boys impressed selectors with their performances in Alstonville's fourth place finish at the NSW Under 14 Club Championships at Tamworth earlier this month.

The Alstonville team cruised into the semi-finals winning four of their five qualification matches.

But with only two substitutes on their interchange bench, fatigue set in and the boys lost to Newcastle 4-1 in their opening finals match.

In the bronze medal match they were edged out by Cronulla 6-5.

The Alstonville girl's team met strong opposition from the more experienced and skilled city teams but managed to win one of their group matches.

They narrowly lost a play-off for tenth position by team managers were impressed by the girl's skills progression.

Kate Bracey's efforts won her a reserve spot on the State team while Phoebe Storck, Catherine Blackburn, Sunni Pehrson and Alyce Tozer were selected in the NSW development squad.
