Alstonville dominates water polo

ALSTONVILLE again dominates the Far North Coast water polo grand finals at the Petria Thomas Pool, Mullumbimby, this afternoon.

The club's all-conquering 16 years team, Queensland champions and NSW bronze medallists, will go into the A-grade decider as favourites against their 18 years clubmates in what promises to be a fast, high standard game.

This season the more experienced Byron Bay and Mullumbimby have not been able to keep up with the power play of their younger rivals.

With outstanding prospect Paul Carter leading the way, supported by shooters such as James Mulholland, Simon Tozer and Jack Bracey, they should go one better than last year.

Jeremy Tozer will be facing his brother in leading the 18s. He will be well supported by Cody Graham and Alex Watson and a full bench in trying to achieve back-to-back premierships.

The game will start at 3.15pm.

In B-grade, the experienced Lennox-Ballina will be stretched by Mullum's blend of youth and experience.

Mick Gooley, Ryan Corbett and father Cliff will lead the way for Le-Ba against Mullum young guns Ben Condie, Lucas Frazier and Ben Martin.

In B2 grade, Alstonville Old Boys play the mixed Alstonville Bs, while in C-grade Karen Irwin's Byron Bay will attempt to upset the front-running Alstonville.

C-grade begins the day's battles at 1pm.
