$5m Nimbin clinic opened by Iemma
NSW Health Minister Morris Iemma was beaming in Nimbin yesterday.
He was there to officially open the new 15-bed multi-purpose service.
A few years ago Nimbin was faced with the possibility of losing its ageing and rundown hospital.
Today the totally revamped $4.8 million state-of-the-art facility boasts medical and community health services.
These include a 24hour emergency department, four acute care beds, an infectious diseases isolation room, seven highcare nursing hometype beds, four lowcare nursing hometype beds, a physiotherapy treatment bay, dental clinic, medical centre and a modern radiology department.
It has been funded jointly by the State and Federal governments and Lismore MP Thomas George and Page MP Ian Causley were there yesterday.
Members of the Save Coraki Hospital committee protested both outside the facility and at Lismore Base Hospital when the Minister visited earlier in the day to view the emergency department renova- tions.
