22 wins from 40 starts ... now that?s hot stuff

By JOHN SCHOLTEN

HOT Syrup made it win number 22 from just 40 starts at the Lismore greyhounds on Tuesday night.

He started a warm 4-6 favourite and showed his customary brilliant early pace to lead all the way in a personal best time of 29.67 secs for the Rous Hotel Trophy 520m journey.

Hot Syrup had six-and-a-half lengths to spare on the line over Nantan Lupan, who ran a creditable race, with Flash Alarm another four lengths away in third place.

Last Tuesday's win added another $1000 to Hot Syrup's prizemoney tally and took his total earnings to over $33,000 ? not bad for a greyhound who cost just $200 to buy as a puppy.

Eleven of Hot Syrup's wins have been scored at Lismore, from just 15 starts.
