ANNA Barber made her Photo of the Day debut with a splash yesterday, winning through the vote in a big field of amazing photos.

This is one of three images she submitted showing Sunday night's lightning storm as it approached Woodburn.

Anna lives at Woodburn where she works as a photographer shooting weddings and portraits. You can see more of her work on her website.

Readers selected Anna's photo as their preferred Photo of the Day with a 16% vote, putting her at the head of a really tight field that included some really brilliant work - including one from one of our regular contributors - Sarah Rickard - that won an award at the Coraki Art Show (congratulations Sarah!).

Photo of the Day aims to celebrate the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of the region's photographers.

As well as appearing here, it is published on Page 2 of the paper, is used as the cover image on our Facebook page and forms part of an expanding gallery, which you can see below.

To contribute an image to Photo of the Day, simply go to our Facebook page and share it.

Now to tomorrow's photo. We're very lucky today to have a few first time contributors to Photo of the Day and, once again, the standard is just exceptional. There are seven images to choose from. You can see bigger versions in this gallery or by clicking the gallery link above the thumbnails in the poll below. Have a look and choose your favourite in the poll.

Voting closes at noon.
