Murray wins Brisbane International

TOP seed Andy Murray has completed a perfect Australian Open audition, beating the Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-1 6-3 to take out the final of the Brisbane International on Pat Rafter Arena.

The Scottish world number four was in complete control from the start of the match and continued the strong momentum he gained during the tournament, needing just 26 minutes to take out the first set before Dolgopolov mustered up some stiffer resistance in the second.

Dolgopolov injured his groin during his semi-final victory over Gilles Simon and he was visibly hampered today, with his movement clearly restricted and unable to entrench himself in any rallies for much of the contest.

He apologised to the crowd after the match, saying he did his best under difficult circumstances.
