ANDREA BRYANT knows what she likes in a good cake.

And so she should as she's been spending today mulling over every detail of a variety of cakes entered in the Alstonville Show's annual pavilion cookery display, as one of the judges.

There's a large range of displays inside the pavilion this year, ranging from biscuits and scones, to needlework and scrap-booking.

And the pavilion is only one element of the family fun-filled show.

There's the always-loved sideshow alley and rides, the apex pavilion entertainment and stage including magicians, Reptiles Downunder, line dancing, food stalls, Old Macdonalds Farm and Living Statues, as well as all the traditional ring events such as beef cattle judging, the championship dog show, motorbike stunt riders, rodeo events, whip-cracking and ride-on mower racing.

Tomorrow is seniors and pensioners day at the show, where entry is reduced for this group to $5.On Saturday and Sunday entry is $10 adults, $7 pensioners, $5 students, children under 10 free, family pass $30.

Gates open 8am.
