Alstonville to host NSW's only women-only soccer tournament

THE third annual Oceania Cup - the only all girls and women's soccer tournament in New South Wales - will be hosted by Alstonville FC this weekend.

The tournament will be run tomorrow and Sunday at the club's home groundsof Geoff Watt Oval and Crawford Park.

Teams of girls in age divisions of 12 years to open women will compete in an 11-a-side format with a minimum of five 50-minute games for each team over the two days.

Tournament organiser Matt Wiltshire, the winner of the FFNC Birmingham Dedication to Football Award this year, said: "Our club proudly supports girls' and women's football on the Far North Coast.

"We are excited to welcome teams from NSW, Queensland and the ACT as well as teams from local clubs right across the North Coast.

"We look forward to a weekend of fun and participation to finish our regular season."

The tournament is being hosted by the Alstonville club in conjunction with Football Far North Coast and Northern NSW Football.
