Alleged thief caught with iPod in her undies
THE $235 in allegedly stolen cash in her purse wasn't unexpected, neither were the jewellery phones in her backpack, but the iPod hidden in the Goonellabah woman's undies came as a bit of a surprise.
The woman, 24, was picked up by police on Carrington Street, Lismore, after a complaint she had been seen stealing money and cigarettes from a staff office at a shop at Woodlark Street.
Police said the woman had been challenged by a member of staff at the electrical store and claimed she was there for a job interview.
That didn't wash and police were called.
When officers took her back to the Lismore Police Station, they found all sorts of things secreted in places you wouldn't usually expect to find them.
There was the iPod in her undies, but also $400 cash in her bra.
Under the inner sole of one shoe were four gold rings, a silver ring, a gold chain and jewellery. In the other show there were another four gold rings and two gold chains.
In her backpack, the woman had another three gold and silver watches in her backpack, three necklaces, two earrings, a bracelet and two mobile phones, one of which had been reported stolen.
The woman was charged with larceny, breach of bail and four counts of possessing goods suspected of being stolen. She is being held in custody and will face Lismore Local Court next week.
