All-inclusive Halal and tofu BBQ to be held at Lismore

THE Lismore peace group Remembering and Healing and the Northern Rivers Muslim Association have teamed up to organise a Halal and Tofu BBQ Picnic for the Northern Rivers.

This all-inclusive event is about sharing food, getting to know each other, celebrating our diversity.

Everybody is invited.

Meat will be donated and prepared by the Northern Rivers Muslim Association, while tofu will be donated by Remembering and Healing.

Participants are invited to bring a plate to share, either a salad or a desert, as well as all other picnic needs like drinks, plates, cutlery, chairs, blankets etc.

The BBQ will be held at Lismore Heritage Park on Saturday February 20 at noon.

In case of wet weather the event will be postponed (Phone 6688 6214 or 0423 139 556 if in doubt).

Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell said that sharing food is a time honoured way of breaking down barriers.

"The opportunity to join with our local Muslim community members for a halal and vegetarian picnic or barbecue is a great way of getting to know people and making new friends," she said.
