Phabulous: Alcatel to sell smartphone with fingerprint ID for under $US200

A SIX inch phablet offering a high definition display and fingerprint scanning will be sold by Alcatel for less than $US200.

The Alcatel A3 XL will also be sold in Australia, offering people a cheaper alternative.

The company will unveil its flagship devices at Mobile World Congress next month where Samsung is expected to launch its Galaxy S8 phone.

Alcatel says the new phablet features fast 4G connectivity and will come with a range of exclusive apps.

The fingerprint recognition feature allows for the smartphone to be unlocked with one tap, and helps to answer calls, take photos, encrypt documents and quickly access other applications.

The Alcatel A3 XL has speakers enhanced by Arkamys.

It comes with two cameras with dual flash, along with a range apps to help enhance and personalise photos and albums.

Australian pricing and availability is expected to be announced soon.

Alcatel's parent company, TLC Communication, also unveiled the MOVEBAND BT (Bluetooth) Smartband at CES 2017 in Las Vegas.

It has a battery that lasts for 30 days on standby mode after one full charge, which takes less than two hours.

Gesture control function ensures that users can run applications such as playing music or using a camera, simply by turning their wrist.

It helps users keep track of life activities like message notifications, calls, emails and other alerts. It also monitors activity, fitness and sleep. It will be available in March globally.
