NEWSAGENTS will remain the major outlets for lottery sales for a further three years, after a deal between the NSW Government and the Tatts Group, Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis said.
Newsagents had feared losing lottery sales to supermarket giants such as Woolworths, with one local agent saying the change could force him out of business.
"This package will protect our local newsagents for a further three years and allow them to grow their businesses, with $15 million in funding being provided to help them with new fit-outs in their stores.
The announcement is "a temporary reprieve for newsagents," he said.
"Small business is the life-blood of regional communities," Mr Gulaptis said.
