Beauty therapy proves affordable
KRISTY Saad believes beauty therapy should be accessible and affordable for everyone.
And especially for members of her beloved South Lismore community.
She has just opened her new salon, Affordable Beauty, in Casino St, South Lismore.
"Everyone should have the opportunity to be pampered," she said.
"A simple thing like an eyebrow wax can mean the world to someone on a low income.
"I like to keep things affordable for people from all walks of life, but I do not compromise on the quality of treatments or the products I use."
Ms Saad moved to South Lismore from the Whitsunday Islands five years ago and fell in love with the community.
"I am a South Lismore girl," she said
"It has a real country feel to it and people on this side of the river really support each other.
"Every renovation I did on the shop was done by a company from South Lismore."
Ms Saad has been a beauty therapist for 10 years and worked from home over the last two and a half years before deciding to rent premises for her business.
"Getting a shop has made me step up my game," she said.
"I have never loved being a beauty therapist more than I do now."
Ms Saad became a beauty therapist because she loved interacting with her customers and being in touch with people.
"It's almost inevitable that you become your customer's confidante because people are entrusting their appearance to you," she said.
Ms Saad said beauty technologies were changing rapidly and it was up to beauticians to keep up.
Affordable Beauty offers the full range of beauty therapies including diamond dermabrasion and teeth whitening and the ever-popular spray tan.
"Spray tans are more and more popular these days as people become more aware of the dangers of skin cancer," she said.
