Adam misses out on Pro's round 3
ADAM MELLING’S Snapper Rocks tour debut came to an end in messy conditions at the Quiksilver Pro yesterday.
Surfing against Port Macquarie veteran Mick Campbell, Melling was good, just not good enough to progress to round 3.
Sloppy conditions ensured waves were few and far between; Melling only rode five, while world No 19 Campbell got the job done with just three.
The Lennox boy grabbed the ascendency early in his heat with a 6.0 and struck back as soon as Campbell took the lead midway through.
An 8.00 looked enough to secure the win with 10 minutes remaining in dodgy surf, but Campbell landed a late 7.6 to go back in front.
Melling scrambled with the last two waves, but couldn’t muster the 7.17 required to go through.
Final two-wave scores: Mick Campbell 15.17, Adam Melling 14.00.
Owen and Tyler Wright and Keiren Perrow are all alive in round 3 and will be in the surf today if conditions permit.
